Delhi Blast Probe: Al-Falah University Chairman Under NIA Scanner

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the 10 November blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, is expanding its investigation to unravel domestic as well as international links. The agency is now preparing to question Al-Falah University Group Chairman Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, currently under judicial remand, in connection with the case.

Crucial Inputs From Doctors and Cleric

According to sources, the NIA has brought four suspects — three doctors and a cleric — from Srinagar to Delhi for detailed interrogation. Among them, Dr. Muzzammil Shakeel Ghani of Pulwama and cleric Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wage of Shopian have allegedly provided several critical inputs that are guiding the next phase of the investigation.

Possible Foreign Links Emerge

Officials indicated that investigators are examining both domestic and foreign involvement in the blast. Preliminary findings suggest that Dr. Muzzammil and Mufti Irfan may have connections extending beyond India’s borders.
The four accused brought from Srinagar include:

  • Dr. Muzzammil Shakeel Ghani (Pulwama)
  • Dr. Adil Ahmed Rather (Anantnag)
  • Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wage (Shopian)
  • Dr. Shaheen Saeed (Lucknow, UP)

NIA sources revealed that the suspected network could have deeper international dimensions, though significant groundwork is still required.

Over 300 Radicalised in Four Years

Investigators have found that Mufti Irfan allegedly radicalised more than 300 Kashmiri youths over the last four to five years. Several among them reportedly became involved in extremist activities as doctors and OGWs (overground workers).
Due to the sensitivity of the case, the road outside NIA Headquarters in Delhi has been temporarily sealed for public movement.

Pistol Handed Over at Eidgah

During interrogation, Mufti Irfan reportedly admitted that he had handed over a pistol to an accused named Arif at an Eidgah in Anantnag.
Sources further claim:

  • In October 2023, Dr. Adil and a fidayeen attacker, Dr. Umar, arrived at Irfan’s mosque with AK-47 rifles.
  • In November, Dr. Adil allegedly brought another AK-47.
  • Shortly afterward, Dr. Muzzammil and Dr. Shaheen also joined them.

These developments indicate a broader conspiracy involving trained professionals and religious influencers working in tandem to support terror-linked activities.
