Chandigarh/Faridabad/Nuh: The investigation into the Red Fort car blast in Delhi has taken a significant turn. Agencies have detained Afsana, the woman who rented a room to suicide bomber Dr. Umar Un Nabi in Haryana’s Nuh district. She had been absconding since the incident and is now being questioned for her role in sheltering the terror suspect.
Room Was Rented on Shoaib’s Recommendation
According to investigators, Umar Un Nabi stayed for nearly 10 days in Nuh’s Hidayat Colony, where Afsana had provided him a room based on the recommendation of a man named Shoaib, an electrician at Al-Falah University. It is suspected that the bomber used this location as a safe hideout before executing the attack near Delhi’s Red Fort.
Afsana’s involvement came under scrutiny soon after the blast. Instead of cooperating, she fled with her daughter, prompting agencies to launch a hunt. Her detention is expected to reveal crucial details about the bomber’s movements and support network during his stay.
Family Also Under Scanner
Sources say investigation teams are scrutinizing Afsana’s entire family, as well as individuals who may have interacted with Umar during his stay. Several more suspects are reportedly under surveillance and could be summoned for questioning.
Who is Afsana?
Afsana, around 35 years old, hails from Golpuri village but lives at her father’s house in Hidayat Colony, Nuh. Her husband is a truck driver, and she has a 12-year-old daughter. She manages the family’s Nuh property and had personally arranged the rented room for Umar.
Shoaib, who recommended Umar, has already been arrested by central agencies.
Authorities believe Afsana’s interrogation may uncover critical evidence regarding Umar’s planning, contacts, and activities during the 10 days he stayed in Nuh.
