Delhi Blast Case: Four Doctors Struck Off National Medical Register After Illegal Activity Charges

New Delhi: Following the investigation into the Delhi blast case, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has removed the names of four doctors from the National Medical Register after they were charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The doctors affected are Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed, Dr. Adil Ahmed Rather, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, and Dr. Shaheen Saeed.

The commission stated that until further orders, these doctors will not be allowed to practice medicine or hold any professional medical appointments.

Background of the Case:
On 10 November, authorities recovered 2,900 kilograms of explosives and investigated a car blast near the Red Fort, leading to the arrest of eight individuals, including the four doctors. Evidence collected by investigative agencies linked the doctors to illegal activities, prompting action by the NMC.

A public notice issued by the commission clarified that the doctors’ conduct violated the ethical standards, integrity, and public trust expected of medical professionals. Consequently, the Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council was directed to cancel their registrations immediately and remove their names from its official medical practitioners’ register.

The NMC emphasized that any association with illegal or terrorist activities is incompatible with medical practice, reinforcing its commitment to uphold professional ethics and public safety.
