
New Delhi: The Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the Dwarka district police has achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending a notorious criminal, Mohit, from the area. Authorities recovered a country-made pistol and live ammunition from his possession.
Criminal Background
According to the police, the accused Mohit has been involved in multiple cases, including attempted murder, violations under the Arms Act, and the Excise Act. The AATS team carried out the arrest following routine patrolling and actionable intelligence. The Dwarka district DCP has kept teams on high alert to curb crime, leading to the formation of a special operations team that executed the planned operation.
Details of the Arrest
The operation was conducted by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Jitendra Singh, Head Constables Manish Kumar, Sandeep, Sonu, and Manoj Kumar, under the supervision of Inspector Kamlesh Kumar, In-Charge of Dwarka AATS, and overall monitoring by ACP/Operations. The accused, identified as Mohit, son of Surendra (34), resides in Village Dhansa, Jitiyan Pana, Firni Wala Road, under the jurisdiction of Jaferpur Kalan Police Station, Delhi.
Prevention of Major Crime
During the search, the police recovered a country-made pistol and live cartridge from Mohit, which he was carrying illegally. The accused has a prior criminal record and has been involved in four or more criminal cases, including attempted murder and Arms Act violations. Police officials stated that his arrest has prevented a potential major crime in the area.
Ongoing Investigation
An FIR (No. 17/26 dated 11 Jan 2026) has been registered at Dwarka North Police Station under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act. The police are interrogating the accused to determine the source of the weapon and his intended purpose.
