Dehradun, Uttarakhand – 17 November 2025: The son of former Uttarakhand BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion, Divya Pratap Singh, is embroiled in a serious controversy after allegedly assaulting the son of ex-Chief Secretary S. Ramaswamy, R. Yashvardhan, and threatening him with a pistol.

Overtaking Leads to Assault Allegation
According to the complaint filed at Rajpur Police Station, the incident occurred on the night of 14 November. Yashvardhan stated that while traveling from Dilaram Chowk towards Sai Mandir, his car was approached aggressively by a Land Cruiser and a Bolero near Pacific Mall. The road being narrow, Yashvardhan could not give way, which allegedly provoked the occupants of the vehicles.

Flag Disrespect and Gunner Suspended
The victim also reported that Rajesh Singh, the gunner accompanying Champion’s son, kicked the tricolor badge on his shirt. Following these serious allegations, the police suspended the gunner and registered a case against him. Notably, the gunner was officially posted in Haridwar but was present in Dehradun with Champion’s son.

FIR Registered, Arms Act Invoked
Based on the complaint and CCTV footage, police have filed an FIR against Divya Pratap Singh and Constable Rajesh Singh, adding provisions under the Arms Act. Additionally, a report to revoke Divya Pratap Singh’s firearm license has been sent to the District Magistrate of Haridwar.

Police Investigation Ongoing
SP City Pramod Kumar confirmed that the case pertains to the Mussoorie Diversion area and that further action is being taken based on available evidence.
