Dehradun ONGC Chowk Accident: Chargesheet Filed After 60 Witnesses, 6 Dead in Horror Crash

Dehradun, Uttarakhand: The horrifying ONGC Chowk accident that shook Dehradun on the night of 11 November 2024 claimed the lives of six friends and left one critically injured. After over a year, the police have filed a 500-page chargesheet in the case, citing 60 witnesses.

The Tragic Incident

On that fateful night, an Innova car carrying seven friends collided with a container near ONGC Chowk in the Cantonment police area. The impact was catastrophic — human bodies were strewn across the road, with severed limbs and two heads lying on the pavement, leaving onlookers traumatized. Six youths — Guneet, Kunal Kukreja, Rishabh Jain, Navya Goyal, Atul Agrawal, and Kamakshi — were killed instantly, while Siddhesh Agrawal, seated at the rear, survived but sustained severe injuries and remained hospitalized for a long period.

The car had traveled from Siddhesh Agrawal’s home in Rajpur, taking a route via Ghantaghar to GMS Road, making a U-turn near Laxman Police Chowki, before reaching ONGC Chowk. CCTV footage from ONGC Chowk was reportedly non-functional at the time of the accident.

Police Action and Chargesheet Filing

The container driver, Ramkumar, was arrested 13 days after the accident. Investigations revealed that he had fled the scene along with the container number plate. Based on a complaint lodged by Siddhesh Agrawal’s father, police also named Naresh Gautam (owner) and Abhishek Chaudhary (operator) as accused in the case.

After extensive investigation, Uttarakhand Police submitted the chargesheet in court, including 60 witnesses. Delays in filing the chargesheet were attributed to the inability to record Siddhesh Agrawal’s statement earlier due to his critical condition.

A Community in Shock

The incident left the city in shock, with the horrific scene and the loss of young lives sparking outrage and grief across Dehradun. Authorities continue to pursue the investigation, aiming to bring justice for the victims and their families.
