Deal Struck for ₹14,000 to Write Exam for Friend: Two Impostors Detained, 11 Students Expelled in Nawada Inter Exam

Nawada: In a major crackdown on examination malpractice during the ongoing Intermediate Annual Examination 2026 in Bihar’s Nawada district, authorities detained two impersonators (commonly referred to as ‘Munna Bhai’) and expelled 11 students for indulging in unfair means.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over cheating rackets operating during board examinations, despite strict monitoring and surveillance measures.

Impostor Caught Red-Handed at Girls’ Inter School Centre

One of the most shocking cases came to light on Thursday at the Project Munakka Phoolchand Sahu Kanya Inter Vidyalaya examination centre, where an impersonator was caught attempting to appear in the exam on behalf of another candidate.

The accused was identified as Nitish Kumar, son of Nawab Yadav and a resident of Khadakpur village.

During verification, authorities found that Nitish was writing the examination in place of a student named Virendra Kumar, who was absent.

The examination centre superintendent immediately alerted the police, following which the accused was taken into custody.

₹14,000 Deal for Exam Fraud

During interrogation, Nitish Kumar confessed that he had been offered ₹14,000 to write the examination on behalf of his friend Virendra Kumar.

According to officials, the deal was pre-planned and was meant to ensure that Virendra could clear the exam without appearing himself.

The centre in-charge confirmed that the accused was caught while attempting to impersonate the actual candidate.

Police have launched an investigation to identify whether more people are involved in the racket.

11 Students Expelled Across the District

Apart from the impersonation case, strict action was also taken across Nawada district during the third day of the examination.

Officials confirmed that 11 students were expelled for cheating during the second shift of the exam.

Attendance Report: Hundreds Absent

Authorities released detailed attendance figures for both shifts:

First Shift

  • Total registered candidates: 20,342
  • Candidates present: 20,150
  • Candidates absent: 192
  • One fake candidate caught

Second Shift

  • Total registered candidates: 11,639
  • Candidates present: 11,460
  • Candidates absent: 179
  • 11 candidates expelled for malpractice

District Magistrate Inspects Centres

To ensure a fair and malpractice-free examination, District Magistrate Ravi Prakash conducted surprise inspections of multiple examination centres during the second shift, including:

  • T.S. College, Hisua
  • Inter School, Hisua

During the inspection, the DM reviewed arrangements such as:

  • Law and order deployment
  • Cleanliness and lighting
  • Seating arrangements
  • CCTV surveillance
  • Entry-exit monitoring system
  • Compliance with Bihar School Examination Board guidelines

He also instructed all deployed magistrates and staff to ensure that the examination remains peaceful, disciplined, and free from unfair practices.

Names of Expelled Students Released

According to the district administration, students expelled for malpractice include:

T.S. College, Hisua

  • Asif Raza
  • Pranav Kumar
  • Satyam Kumar

Inter School, Hisua

  • Abhishek Kumar
  • Ranjan Kumar
  • Ashish Kumar
  • Aryan Kumar
  • Saif Raza
  • Satyansh Kumar
  • Akash Kumar
  • Pappu Kumar

All 11 students were expelled as per rules and further action is being taken.

Administration Claims Strict Vigilance

Officials stated that strict vigilance and surveillance are being maintained to prevent cheating and impersonation. However, incidents like the ₹14,000 impersonation deal show that attempts to manipulate the examination process continue despite strict measures.

The police are now investigating whether the arrested impersonators are part of an organised network operating during board exams.

The administration has warned that anyone found involved in exam fraud will face strict legal action.
