Daylight Pomegranate Theft in Nawada Caught on CCTV, Police Launch Manhunt

A brazen daylight theft in Bihar’s Nawada district has sparked widespread discussion after CCTV footage captured two unidentified men stealing pomegranates from a fruit vendor’s cart and fleeing in an e-rickshaw.

The incident took place at Vijay Market, a busy commercial area of Nawada. According to the victim, fruit seller Sintu Kumar, a carton containing 30 kilograms of pomegranates, worth approximately ₹3,000, was stolen from outside his stall.

CCTV footage clearly shows two masked individuals arriving on an e-rickshaw. One of them swiftly lifts the carton of pomegranates from the cart, places it into the e-rickshaw, and the duo escapes within seconds. The entire act occurred in broad daylight, highlighting the growing audacity of petty criminals in crowded marketplaces.

Following the incident, the shopkeeper immediately informed the police. Acting on the complaint, local police have begun an investigation using the CCTV footage to identify both the suspects and the e-rickshaw involved.

Circle Inspector Pankaj Kumar stated that police teams are actively scanning CCTV cameras in and around Vijay Market and expressed confidence that the accused would be arrested soon.

“Based on camera evidence, the culprits involved in the e-rickshaw theft will be apprehended at the earliest,” he said.

Local traders have raised concerns that such thefts are becoming frequent, especially during early morning hours when vegetables and fruits arrive for sale. According to market representatives, organized groups often target goods directly from delivery vehicles, causing significant losses to small vendors.

However, this time, the clear CCTV visuals have strengthened hopes of swift police action. Authorities have assured traders that those involved in such crimes will not be spared under any circumstances.

The incident has once again underlined the importance of surveillance systems in public marketplaces and the need for increased police vigilance to protect small business owners.
