Daylight Heist Caught on CCTV: Merchant Loses ₹6 Lakh While Watching Live on Mobile

Barwani, Jan 29, 2026: A shocking daylight robbery in Pansemal town of Barwani district left a local merchant stunned after he discovered the crime live on his mobile CCTV app. Within just 15 minutes, thieves made away with cash and jewelry worth approximately ₹6 lakh.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at the residence of Sanjay Agarwal, a merchant based in the Pansemal sub-division. The burglars climbed over the main gate, broke the lock, and entered the house while Agarwal and his family were away at a relative’s home in Sendhwa. CCTV footage revealed one of the thieves inside the house, emptying cash and gold and silver jewelry from the cupboard, while his accomplice stood outside keeping watch over the area.

The total stolen valuables were estimated at ₹6 lakh, including ₹2.5 lakh in cash and jewelry worth around ₹3.5 lakh. Agarwal spotted the break-in while checking his home’s CCTV feed on his mobile phone, prompting him to rush back to Pansemal to confirm the theft.

Pansemal Police Station In-Charge Mansaram Wagen stated that a similar daylight robbery occurred last November in nearby Khetia town. The modus operandi and suspect descriptions in both cases suggest the involvement of an organized gang.

Barwani Superintendent of Police Jagdish Dabar confirmed that a special team has been formed to track down the culprits. Investigators are currently analyzing CCTV footage to identify the suspects and expect to apprehend them soon.

The incident has alarmed residents, highlighting the need for increased vigilance even during daytime and the importance of digital monitoring in preventing and responding to crimes.
