New Delhi: A shocking case of organized crime has come to light from Anand Vihar in Delhi, where a gang allegedly lured young men into a honeytrap and robbed them. The gang’s activities, centered around the ‘Mexico Bar’ in Cross River Mall, had reportedly turned the club into a zone of fear for local youth.
According to police sources, the gang not only held a college student hostage but brazenly attacked victims inside a police station, challenging law enforcement. Despite at least 50 complaints lodged against the gang earlier, the local police had largely remained inactive. Only after the intervention of the Delhi Police Commissioner was an FIR registered under various sections, including extortion and assault.
The Incident:
The incident occurred on February 1. Aman Mishra, a student from Shakarpur, visited the ‘Mexico Bar’ in Kadkarduma after making friends on a social media app. He was allegedly surrounded by Shivam and 3-4 accomplices who threatened to kill him, held him hostage, and forced him to transfer a large sum from his mobile wallet to their accounts.
When Aman’s friend Deepak Gupta arrived to help, the gang reportedly assaulted him as well. Shockingly, even at Anand Vihar police station, 15-20 armed associates of the accused entered and attacked Aman and Deepak in the presence of police officers. Some lawyers were also reportedly present, intimidating the victims further. The gang’s audacity extended to physically confronting police personnel who tried to intervene.
Delayed Action Sparks Suspicion:
Despite nearly 50 previous complaints against this club and gang, no action was taken by local authorities. Only after the victims approached the Delhi Police Commissioner did the Anand Vihar police register an FIR. This delayed response has raised questions about possible collusion or negligence by the local police. CCTV footage is now being analyzed to identify the accused.
Sources noted that a similar incident occurred at the same police station years ago, when some lawyers assaulted a constable, and the then-SHO tried to suppress the case. Media attention eventually led to arrests in that case.
The investigation into the current incident is ongoing, and authorities are under pressure to take strict action against the gang and their alleged supporters.
