Danapur-Bihta Elevated Road Likely to Open in 2027, NHAI Confirms

Patna (Bihar):
The long-awaited Danapur-Bihta-Coilwar elevated road, which will connect Bihar’s capital Patna to its western outskirts, is now expected to be completed by June 2027, according to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Once operational, this four-lane corridor will significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity in the region.

Progress and Timeline

Officials stated that approximately 45% of the project has been completed so far, with the remaining 55% targeted for completion by mid-2027. The project, initially scheduled for September 2026, has experienced minor delays due to technical and logistical factors.

The 25-kilometer elevated highway is part of the larger Patna-Buxar infrastructure initiative, considered one of the most ambitious elevated road projects in India. It is being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹1,969 crore by Seagal India Private Limited, a leading infrastructure firm.

Focus on Structural Safety

Arvind Kumar, Project Director at NHAI, emphasized that structural integrity is the top priority. A four-member technical team from Rail India Technical & Economic Service (RITES) is conducting daily inspections and technical audits. In addition, the contractor has deployed an internal audit team to promptly address any engineering or safety concerns.

Once completed, the Danapur-Bihta elevated road is expected to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion on existing routes, and serve as a vital link between Patna and the western districts of Bihar.
