Cyber Fraud Using Prashant Kishor’s ‘Jan Suraaj’ Name in Bihar; Party Issues Public Alert

Patna: Cybercriminals in Bihar have now targeted political strategist Prashant Kishor’s ambitious initiative, the Jan Suraaj Party, by creating fake WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media accounts in the names of senior party leaders and workers. These fraudsters have been contacting people and demanding money, falsely claiming association with the party.

Following several complaints, the Jan Suraaj Party has issued an official public alert, urging citizens to stay cautious and not fall prey to such scams.

What the Jan Suraaj Party Said

Bihar State President of the Jan Suraaj Party, Manoj Bharti, posted an urgent warning on social media platform X. He stated that over the past few days, multiple fake accounts have surfaced using photos and identities of senior party functionaries.

“These accounts are either demanding money or offering false promises in the name of the organisation,” Bharti wrote.

He strongly clarified:
“Jan Suraaj does not ask anyone for money through phone calls or messages.”
He added that this was not only a case of cyber fraud but also a deliberate attempt to malign the image of the party.

Appeal to the Public

Manoj Bharti appealed to citizens to remain vigilant.
He urged that if anyone receives such suspicious calls or messages, they should:

  • Not respond or fall for fake promises
  • Immediately report the matter to the party or the nearest cyber cell/police station

The party has reaffirmed its commitment to transparent public engagement and warned people not to trust any unofficial communication demanding funds.
