Devghar, Jharkhand – February 14, 2026: Devghar is abuzz with festive fervor as devotees from across Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal flock to the sacred town ahead of Mahashivratri. The administration has finalized all arrangements for the grand Shiv Baraat at the renowned Baba Baidyanath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.

For the first time, this year’s Shiv Baraat will feature a unique attraction — the ‘Cyber Daitya’ (Cyber Demon) — alongside traditional representations of spirits and supernatural beings.

Shiv Baraat to Begin from KKN Stadium

The grand procession is scheduled to commence at 6:00 PM on February 15 from KKN Stadium. Key city routes and intersections have been adorned with colorful spiral lights, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The Tourism Department, in collaboration with local organizations, has ensured that preparations are complete.

Crowd Management with Drone Surveillance

Deputy Commissioner Naman Priyesh Lakra confirmed that strict measures for cleanliness, drinking water, lighting, and security have been put in place. Drone cameras will monitor the crowd throughout the event. The Shiv Baraat will proceed from KKN Stadium, passing through Bajrangi Chowk, Tower Chowk, Azad Chowk, Bhairo Bazaar, Narsingh Talkies Road, Shiksha Sabha, Chandni Chowk, and Baidyanath Lane, finally entering the temple through the east gate.

Drone Shows and Grand Floats

The procession will showcase spectacular floats (jhankis), including representations of the 12 Jyotirlingas, the Cyber Daitya to raise awareness about cybercrime, the achievements of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, the “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” campaign, themes on the age of Kali, Kalki Avatar, and other gods, spirits, saints, and demons. A drone show will add a modern, visual spectacle to the event. Devotees will also get the opportunity to view all 12 Jyotirlingas in a single glance.

Cultural Performances and Festivities

The Shiv Baraat will feature 15–20 percussion troupes, band parties, Bhangra groups, horse and camel riders, and cultural teams. Traditional Chhau and folk dance performances will enhance the devotional ambiance.

Traffic Diversions in Place

To manage the expected massive crowds on February 15, Devghar Police have implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan. The measures aim to ensure smooth passage for the Shiv Baraat while allowing devotees hassle-free access to the temple.

This Mahashivratri, Baba Baidyanath Temple promises a unique blend of tradition and modernity, honoring age-old rituals while introducing contemporary themes like cyber awareness for the first time.
