New Delhi: Delhi Police have released crime statistics for the past three years (2023–2025), indicating a significant decline in overall crime across the national capital, along with a notable improvement in case-solving efficiency. The data reflects strengthened policing and better law-and-order management in the city.
According to figures shared by Special CP (Crime) Devesh Srivastava, crime rates in almost all major categories declined in 2025 compared to 2024. Murder cases have shown a steady decrease, falling from 506 in 2023 to 504 in 2024, and further down to 491 in 2025.
The sharpest decline was observed in robbery cases, which dropped from 1,654 in 2023 to 1,510 in 2024, and further to 1,326 in 2025.
Crimes Against Women Show Improvement
Crimes against women have also registered a downward trend. Rape cases decreased from 2,141 in 2023 to 1,901 in 2025, reflecting enhanced preventive measures and faster police response.
High Case-Solving Rate a Key Success
One of Delhi Police’s biggest achievements has been its high case-resolution rate. In 2025:
- 98.13% of attempted murder cases were solved
- 97.51% of robbery cases were resolved
- 97.11% of rape cases were successfully investigated
Street Crime Still a Challenge
Despite the progress, street crimes remain a concern. The police managed to solve only 64.22% of snatching cases and 63.68% of extortion cases. However, even in these categories, the total number of incidents showed a decline compared to previous years.
Overall, the statistics highlight a positive shift in Delhi’s crime landscape, with falling crime rates and improved investigation outcomes, though authorities acknowledge the need for continued focus on street-level offenses.
