Crime Branch Busts Family-Run Heroin Trafficking Syndicate in Delhi

New Delhi: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has successfully uncovered a major interstate drug trafficking syndicate. Three people, including a husband-wife duo and a receiver, have been arrested in connection with the operation. Authorities seized 1,504 grams of heroin, with an estimated international market value of approximately ₹7.5 crore.

The Concealment Tactic:
Police revealed that the traffickers used an unusual method to avoid detection. Arif Khan (36) and his wife Shikha Ali (30) frequently traveled in a Wagon-R taxi, posing as an ordinary family to avoid suspicion. The couple transported consignments from Bareilly under the cover of night and distributed them across Delhi-NCR.

How the Arrest Was Made:
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch laid a trap near the Bhopura border and intercepted a car. During the search, officers recovered 1.310 kg of heroin. Following questioning of Arif Khan, police raided the Bhalaswa Dairy area and arrested the receiver, Jumman (32), recovering an additional 194 grams of heroin from him.

Previous Major Seizures:
The Delhi Police Crime Branch had recently seized restricted category counterfeit medicines worth ₹5 crore. In that operation, two people were arrested, and 21,000 Alprazolam tablets were recovered, valued at around ₹5 crore in the international market.

The arrest of this syndicate highlights Delhi Police’s continued focus on dismantling organized drug networks operating across state borders.
