Court Expresses Anger Over Release of Scrap Mafia Ravi Kana Despite B-Warrant; Banda Jailor Suspended

Banda: The CJM court of Gautam Buddh Nagar has expressed strong displeasure over the release of gangster Ravi Kana from Banda district jail, despite a B-warrant issued against him. Following the incident, Banda Jail Superintendent K.P. Yadav has been suspended, and DG Jail P.C. Meena has assigned DIG Jail Prayagraj to investigate the matter.

Ravi Kana, involved in the scrap mafia, was lodged in Banda jail. A case of extortion and criminal intimidation had been registered against him at Noida’s Sector 63 police station, for which the court had issued a B-warrant.

On January 29, Ravi Kana was presented in court via video conferencing from Banda jail. During the hearing, the remand proceedings were conducted. However, despite the B-warrant, he was released from Banda jail the same evening.

Jail Administration’s Response
The Banda jail administration stated that Ravi Kana had already obtained release orders in other cases. They claimed that after the video conferencing hearing, no custody warrant was received, nor was any future court date communicated. On this basis, he was released from jail on Thursday evening.

Court Rejects Jail Administration’s Explanation
The court, however, did not accept this explanation. It noted that the jail authorities were aware of the B-warrant and should not have released him, calling it a defiance of judicial orders. The Chief Judicial Magistrate has sought explanations from the jail superintendent on three key points. The entire matter has been escalated to the DIG and DG Jail for further accountability.
