Conversion Racket Busted in Greater Noida, Network Allegedly Operated from Manipur

Greater Noida: A major religious conversion racket allegedly operating under the guise of a coaching centre has been exposed in Sector-36 of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Police investigations have revealed shocking details, indicating that the entire network was being operated remotely from Manipur, while local agents carried out activities on the ground.

According to police sources, the racket was running from the basement of a residential house, where regular coaching classes were conducted on weekdays to avoid suspicion. However, every Sunday, the same premises reportedly turned into a secret prayer centre where targeted individuals were allegedly subjected to psychological manipulation and religious indoctrination.

‘Secret Mission’ Prayer Meetings Held Every Sunday

Initial investigation suggests that the accused organised special prayer gatherings on Sundays, calling them a “Secret Mission.” During these sessions, people were allegedly lured with promises of prosperity, relief from poverty, family well-being, and cure from diseases.

Police believe these promises were used to emotionally influence vulnerable individuals, particularly those facing financial hardship, health issues, or personal distress.

Religious Books and Alleged ‘Purification Rituals’

During a raid, police recovered six large cartons of books, many of which reportedly contained religious propaganda material. Authorities also described disturbing details of an alleged “purification process” carried out during the gatherings.

According to eyewitness accounts and police sources, women were reportedly subjected to intense emotional pressure and were made to enter a trance-like state. In some cases, it has been alleged that women were forced to vomit into tubs, which was presented as a ritual meant to “remove sin and evil” from the body before conversion.

Officials have termed these allegations extremely serious, and the matter is now being investigated from both criminal and security angles.

WhatsApp Groups and Live Recordings Sent to Manipur

Further examination of the accused persons’ mobile phones revealed the existence of multiple WhatsApp groups, through which daily religious messages were circulated to participants. Police also found that the Sunday prayer sessions were allegedly recorded and live-streamed, with videos being sent to handlers based in Manipur.

Investigators believe these recordings were used as propaganda tools to attract and influence more people into joining the network.

Women Allegedly Main Target

During interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted that women were often the main targets of their conversion drive, as they could be more easily influenced through promises of a better future for their families and children.

Police sources stated that women made up a significant portion of those attending the gatherings.

Main Accused Sent to Jail

The two prime accused, identified as Suresh and Chandra Kiran, were produced in court on Monday and have been sent to judicial custody. Authorities are now examining the role of the house owner who provided the basement for the alleged activities.

The house owner is reportedly a Christian and does not reside in the same locality. Police are investigating whether the property was knowingly rented out for such activities.

Police and Intelligence Agencies on Alert

Following the revelation, the Noida and Greater Noida Police, along with the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), have been placed on high alert. Authorities have begun scanning nearby districts to identify any other hidden prayer centres or suspicious gatherings connected to the Manipur-linked network.

The alleged Manipur connection has raised serious concerns among security agencies, and the investigation is expected to expand further in the coming days.
