Controversy in Narsinghpur School: Students Sing Offensive Songs Against Gandhi on Republic Day, Collector Orders Probe

Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh: Republic Day celebrations in Narsinghpur district were marred by controversy when students of Jamunpani Government Primary School allegedly sang highly offensive lines against Mahatma Gandhi during a stage performance. The incident has sparked outrage across the district and prompted immediate administrative action.

According to reports, the students performed five songs with lyrics deemed inappropriate and disrespectful to Mahatma Gandhi, undermining the spirit of Republic Day. The video of the performance quickly went viral on social media, attracting condemnation from senior officials in the district administration and the education department.

School principal Dinesh Thakur stated that students were neither rehearsed nor prepared to perform these songs, and he was attending to another class at the time of the incident. He claimed that the performance was intended to entertain villagers at their request and that he was unaware the offensive lyrics would be sung on stage. The school has 45 students and only two teachers.

Following the viral video, District Collector Rajni Singh immediately took cognizance of the matter. The next morning, education department officials, led by Indurkhia, formed a probe team including Tendu Kheda Tehsildar Nirmal Pawle, Block Education Officer Pancham Singh Maravai, and other officials to investigate the incident. The team visited the school and documented the facts.

Preliminary findings confirm that the lyrics used were highly inappropriate and offensive toward Mahatma Gandhi. While the investigation is ongoing, no statements were recorded from the minor students involved. Disciplinary and punitive actions will be determined by the collector after reviewing the probe report.
