Sagar, Madhya Pradesh: The recent appointments in the Sagar District Congress Committee have sparked a political storm after it emerged that individuals with criminal cases against them for raising provocative slogans like “Sirs and Heads Apart” have been elevated to key positions, including District General Secretary. The move, recommended by MP PCC Chief Jitu Patwari, has triggered sharp criticism from the BJP and raised questions about Congress’s internal disciplinary policies.
According to sources, the controversy revolves around two newly appointed District General Secretaries, Firdaus Qureshi and Shahbaz Qureshi. Both had previously faced FIRs during a religious procession in Sagar on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, where inflammatory slogans were raised, leading to police action. At the time, the Congress had issued notices of indiscipline against them to contain public outrage.
However, the latest appointments have raised eyebrows, with critics questioning whether the disciplinary notice was merely a façade and whether rewarding leaders involved in provocative acts signals a new strategy by the party.
Political analysts note that the BJP is now using this appointment list to intensify its campaign against Congress, portraying it as an example of appeasement politics. The development is expected to become a major point of contention in state-level political discourse in the coming days.
