Contractor Shot Dead in Gurgaon; Body Found on Roadside Beside Car

Gurgaon: A contractor was found shot dead on a roadside in Basai, Gurgaon, on Tuesday morning, sparking panic in the area. His Brezza car was parked nearby. Initially, the police treated the case as an accident, but subsequent investigations revealed it to be a murder.

Incident Details
The deceased, 55-year-old Sanjay Sharma, originally from Palwal and residing in Rama Garden, Gurgaon, ran a school canteen. On Tuesday morning, he left home for work. A short while later, his body was discovered near Rama Garden, Basai. The Sector-10 police registered a case of murder against unknown assailants. Preliminary findings indicate that the contractor was shot in the head at close range. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas as part of their investigation.

Initial Confusion Over Cause of Death
At first, authorities believed the incident was an accident. However, after speaking with the family and conducting on-site inspections, suspicion of foul play arose. Sector-10 SHO Kuldeep confirmed that a murder case has now been registered, and multiple police teams are working to track down the perpetrators. The post-mortem report is awaited.

Background and Possible Motive
Initial questioning of the family revealed that Sharma ran a canteen in Sector-34. A few days prior, a dispute occurred between some individuals at the canteen. Police suspect that this altercation may have been linked to the motive for the shooting. Investigators are now pursuing all leads to apprehend those responsible.
