A district-level Congress review meeting in Madhubani turned violent when party workers clashed with sticks over internal disagreements, exposing the party to fresh turmoil. The meeting was called to analyze Congress’s defeat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, but it quickly descended into chaos, with workers fighting in front of Bihar Pradesh Congress President Rajesh Ram and former Leader of the Legislative Party Shakil Ahmed Khan.
Violence Erupts Over Ticket Distribution
The primary reason behind the confrontation was the alleged unfair allocation of tickets during the elections. Angry party workers accused the leadership of favoritism, claiming that this mismanagement had cost the party dearly at the polls. What began as a heated debate soon escalated into pushing, shoving, and a violent melee involving sticks, causing panic at the venue.
Leadership Appeals Go Unheeded
Both Rajesh Ram and Shakil Ahmed Khan, who were present on stage, repeatedly urged the workers to maintain peace through the microphone. Despite their continuous efforts, the unruly faction refused to listen, disrupting the program for an extended period and undermining discipline in front of senior leaders.
Decision Came from Delhi
Reacting to the incident, Deputy Mayor and Congress leader Amanullah Khan acknowledged that there was widespread dissatisfaction among workers regarding ticket allocation. He clarified that all those involved in the scuffle were party members themselves but emphasized that the final list of tickets had been decided by the party high command in Delhi. He expressed regret over the breach of discipline and stressed that such issues should have been resolved through dialogue rather than violence.
The Madhubani episode reflects the internal turmoil within Bihar Congress as it grapples with post-election frustrations, highlighting the urgent need for better communication and conflict management within the party.
