Jaipur, Rajasthan: A heated confrontation between a Congress leader and a police officer in the Dudu area of Jaipur rural region escalated to an arrest, drawing public attention and going viral on social media.
Incident Details
The dispute involved Dudu Thana Officer Mukesh Kumar and Congress youth leader Kamlesh Roj, who had come to the site of a tragic building collapse. On Tuesday evening, the roof of a two-story under-construction house in Bala Ka Jaon suddenly caved in, killing the property owner Rahul Bairwa and injuring four laborers. Rescue operations lasted for about seven hours to extract the trapped workers.
Kamlesh Roj arrived at the scene to meet the victims’ families, leading to a verbal clash with the officer. During the heated exchange, Officer Mukesh Kumar reportedly warned Roj, saying: “I will make you forget your politics; I have disciplined many political leaders before.” Roj responded, asserting he had come to speak to the affected families and questioned whether the police would use force against him.
Custody and Public Outcry
The altercation intensified, and the police took Kamlesh Roj into custody, placing him in a police jeep. Following this, local residents gathered at the police station in protest. The Congress leader was released later, but the incident has sparked widespread discussion online, with videos of the confrontation circulating rapidly on social media.
Background of the Confrontation
The clash is reported to have been triggered by Roj’s attempts to assist victims and manage public sentiment at the accident site. Officer Mukesh Kumar expressed concerns that Roj was creating tension, while the leader insisted his intention was solely to help the affected families.
This incident highlights the tensions that can arise between political leaders and law enforcement during emergency situations, especially in cases involving public safety and disaster response.
