Congress Dismisses Bihar Exit Polls: Urges Public to Wait for Actual Results

Patna, Bihar: Congress has dismissed the recent exit polls for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, urging voters to wait for the official results. Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal emphasized that exit polls are not always accurate, citing the example of the Haryana Assembly elections, where polls had predicted a massive win for Congress that did not materialize.

Speaking to the media, Venugopal said, “We have seen what happened in Haryana. Exit polls predicted a huge Congress victory, but reality was different. Let’s wait for the actual Bihar election results.”

Exit Poll Predictions for Bihar
Several exit polls had projected a majority for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar. According to the People’s Pulse survey, NDA is expected to win between 133-159 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan could secure 75-101 seats. Smaller parties like Jan Suraj are projected to win 0-5 seats, and others 2-8 seats.

The People’s Insight survey predicts NDA winning 133-148 seats, Mahagathbandhan 87-102 seats, Jan Suraj 0-2 seats, and independents 3-6 seats. JVC surveys estimate NDA at 135-150 seats, Mahagathbandhan 88-103 seats, Jan Suraj 0-1 seat, and others 3-6 seats. DVC Research anticipates NDA winning 137-152 seats, Mahagathbandhan 83-98 seats, Jan Suraj 2-4 seats, and others 4-8 seats.

Record Voter Turnout
The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections witnessed a record voter turnout of 66.91%, the highest since 1951. Female voters participated enthusiastically, with a turnout of 71.6%, compared to 62.8% among male voters. In the second phase, turnout increased to 68.76% from 65.06% in the first phase on 6 November.

Counting and Results
The voting process in Bihar concluded peacefully across both phases. Official counting of votes is scheduled for 14 November 2025, when the public will know which party will form the government. As Venugopal emphasized, exit poll predictions are merely indicative; the final verdict will come only after the official counting.
