Uttar Pradesh continues to reel under intensifying winter conditions as minimum temperatures dip sharply across several districts. While the overall weather remains clear, the chill is becoming increasingly noticeable during the night and early morning hours.
Kanpur Records Coldest Night; Lucknow Drops Below 10°C
According to the latest reports, Kanpur witnessed the coldest night in the state with the minimum temperature falling to 5.7°C.
Other major cities too recorded significant drops:
- Bareilly: 6.9°C
- Ayodhya: 7°C
- Aligarh: 7.6°C
- Muzaffarnagar: 8.1°C
In Lucknow, the minimum temperature slid below 10°C, marking the onset of a harsher winter phase.
Dry Weather Likely to Continue, Fog in Morning Hours
The Meteorological Department has predicted dry weather conditions across western and eastern UP on December 5.
Light to moderate fog is expected during the morning hours in isolated areas.
Similarly, December 6 and 7 are also likely to remain clear with no severe cold warnings issued for now, although fog may persist.
For December 8, 9, and 10, the forecast suggests continuing dry conditions with shallow to moderate fog in the mornings. No major weather alerts have been issued for this period.
Cold Wave Set to Intensify Next Week
Meteorologists warn that North India is heading into a stronger cold wave phase.
With temperatures falling rapidly in Haryana, Punjab, and the Himalayan foothills, Uttar Pradesh is expected to experience a noticeable intensification of chill beginning next week.
Minimum temperatures are likely to drop further, potentially leading to widespread cold wave conditions.
Dense Fog Begins to Affect Daily Life
In many parts of Uttar Pradesh, morning fog is becoming thicker, reducing visibility and affecting road travel.
Residents have begun experiencing early morning shivers, and the cold is starting to disrupt normal routines.
Neighbouring Bihar is also witnessing the impact of western disturbances in the hilly regions. The IMD predicts a further rise in cold wave and fog density in upcoming days, with severe winter conditions setting in across several districts.
As the state braces for a more intense winter spell, people are advised to take necessary precautions, especially during early morning travel when fog and low visibility are most likely to pose challenges.
