Cold Wave Returns to Bihar: Siwan Records Lowest Temperature, Dense Fog Likely in Several Districts

Patna, Bihar: Bihar is witnessing a return of cold conditions as temperatures are expected to dip slightly over the next 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in several districts, warning of reduced visibility in the early mornings.

Weather Forecast:

According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, the state will experience a decrease in both maximum and minimum temperatures over the coming days. Light cloud cover and westerly winds are expected across most parts of the state, including Patna.

The districts under yellow alert for dense fog include West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Bhabhua, Rohtas, Arwal, and Aurangabad. Dense fog could limit visibility to as low as 50–100 meters during early morning hours. However, clear skies and sunlight are expected later in the day.

Temperature Trends:

Over the past 24 hours, a slight drop in minimum temperatures has been recorded across many districts. Siwan recorded the lowest temperature at 10.3°C. Other districts reported night temperatures ranging from 11°C to 14°C, while daytime temperatures are expected to hover around 24–25°C over the next three days.

In Patna, the minimum temperature is expected to remain between 12°C and 14°C, with maximum temperatures around 24–25°C. Cool westerly winds will make mornings and late nights feel particularly chilly.

Cause of Fog:

Meteorologists attribute the dense fog in northern Bihar to northwestern cold winds combined with atmospheric moisture. Although visibility may remain low in the early hours, sunlight after the fog dissipates will bring clearer conditions during the day.
