
Jaipur: While the nation is still abuzz with election results, icy winds have taken over Rajasthan, sending temperatures plummeting across the state. Several districts, including Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Tonk, are experiencing an intense cold wave, with residents bracing for severe chill.
Fatehpur in Shekhawati recorded the lowest morning temperature at 4.8°C on Saturday, while Nagaur registered a minimum of 5.8°C. The cold spell is spreading rapidly, affecting multiple cities and causing discomfort among locals. Officials from the Meteorological Department have warned that the cold wave is likely to intensify in the coming days.
Widespread Chill Across Districts
The cold has gripped a total of 11 districts, including Sikar, Bikaner, Dausa, Sirohi, Churu, Tonk, Karauli, Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Baran, and Nagaur. Plummeting temperatures have brought daytime and nighttime readings significantly below the seasonal average.
- Pilani, Jhunjhunu: 6.5°C below normal
- Ajmer: 5.9°C below normal
- Tonk (Vanasthali): 5.1°C below normal
- Jaipur: 2.8°C below normal
Despite some sunshine in a few areas during the day, dense fog lingered until late morning in most districts, keeping daytime temperatures under 30°C in all regions except western Rajasthan.
