Cold Intensifies Across Uttarakhand as Minimum Temperatures Drop; Dry Weather to Persist

Dehradun: The chill across Uttarakhand is steadily increasing as minimum temperatures continue to drop across both the plains and the hill regions. Despite dry weather conditions prevailing throughout the state, the fall in nighttime temperatures has intensified the cold, particularly in the mountainous areas where bone-chilling conditions are being reported.

According to the Meteorological Department, dry weather is expected to continue over the next few days. However, the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures is likely to widen further.

In Dehradun, bright sunshine was seen throughout Tuesday, but as evening approached, the mercury dipped sharply, increasing the cold. The city’s minimum temperature fell below 12°C, while the maximum was recorded at 28.4°C.

Temperature details from across the state:

  • Dehradun: Maximum 28.4°C | Minimum 11.8°C
  • Udham Singh Nagar: Maximum 27.4°C | Minimum 9.6°C
  • Mukteshwar: Maximum 19.8°C | Minimum 5.8°C
  • New Tehri: Maximum 19.8°C | Minimum 6.2°C

The weather department noted that the hill regions have started recording temperatures below 6°C, leading to frost formation in several areas. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature across most districts remains close to or slightly above normal levels.

Residents in the plains are experiencing mild cold during early mornings and late evenings, while in the upper Himalayan regions, the temperature drop has brought back frosty winds and shivering nights.

According to meteorologists, the state will continue to witness clear skies and dry weather, with no major western disturbance in sight. However, the cold wave conditions are expected to intensify gradually in the coming days as winter sets in.

Headline Summary:

  • Minimum temperature continues to drop across Uttarakhand.
  • Dry weather but increasing cold due to night chill.
  • Hill areas record temperatures below 6°C; frost reported in some regions.
  • Day-night temperature gap to widen further.
