Ahmedabad: The world’s tallest statue — the Statue of Unity — dedicated to India’s Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, turned into a symbol of unity and patriotism on Wednesday as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the celebrations of Bharat Parv in Kevadia, Gujarat. He was joined by Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, who offered floral tributes to Sardar Patel and participated in various cultural and commemorative events organized at Ekta Nagar.
Tributes by Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya expressed his gratitude, saying, “On the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, it is a matter of great fortune to visit Ekta Nagar. Had Sardar Patel not united the princely states, we would have needed a visa to travel across 535 small nations within our own country. He was a divine architect of the nation, and I bow to him with deep reverence. I also thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for institutionalizing Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31 — just as we celebrate Independence Day and Republic Day.”
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak on Gujarat’s Vision
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak congratulated the people of Uttar Pradesh and the nation on Bharat Parv, saying, “Kevadia has emerged as one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the world, housing the tallest statue ever built — that of the great Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Gujarat government and particularly to Prime Minister Modi for preserving and honoring the legacy of Sardar Patel in such a magnificent manner.”
CM Yogi Adityanath’s Address
Addressing the gathering at Bharat Parv, CM Yogi Adityanath said, “Gujarat has always been a guiding light for the nation — a sacred land of Somnath and Nageshwar Nath. It represents India’s spiritual heritage and was the birthplace of the movement that transformed Swadeshi into Atmanirbharta (self-reliance).”
Highlighting India’s growing strength under PM Modi’s leadership, he added, “The New India does not compromise on its security, sovereignty, or unity. Anyone who dares to challenge the nation’s integrity will face consequences. What seemed impossible to others, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made possible through vision and determination.”
Yogi described Gujarat as the “holy land of India’s unifier, the Iron Man and Bharat Ratna, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,” emphasizing that the state continues to embody the spirit of national integration. Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana and state ministers Swatantra Dev Singh and Jaiveer Singh also accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
Bharat Parv Continues Till November 15
The Bharat Parv celebrations at Kevadia will continue till November 15. The festival began on November 1, following the grand observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gujarat Cabinet Minister Arjun Modhwadia welcomed the dignitaries, while Amit Arora, CEO of the Statue of Unity, presented mementos to CM Yogi and both Deputy Chief Ministers as a token of appreciation.
