Ujjain, February 3, 2026: Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, announced the development of a massive, world-class tent city in Ujjain for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh in 2028. The announcement came during his visit to Gujarat, where he attended the spectacular ‘Rann Utsav’ in Kutch and observed its organization and grandeur.
The Chief Minister said that the model implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat has transformed barren lands into hubs of tourism, livelihood, and development. “What was once an arid region has now become a model for progress, with active participation from local farmers and vibrant displays of cultural heritage,” he said, praising the Rann Utsav’s ability to showcase India’s rich traditions on a global platform.
Drawing inspiration from the Rann Utsav, CM Yadav stated that a similar tent city will be set up in Ujjain during Simhastha 2028. “Such initiatives not only promote tourism but also generate employment opportunities for locals and benefit the farming community,” he added.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the ‘Smriti Van’ in Bhuj, built to commemorate the victims of the earthquake. He described it as a powerful symbol of compassion and collective resolve, underscoring the cultural and humanitarian significance of such projects.
With this announcement, Madhya Pradesh aims to replicate Gujarat’s model of combining cultural celebration with economic development, ensuring that major pilgrimage and tourist destinations in the state receive world-class facilities.
