Dumka, Jharkhand: Chief Minister and JMM President Hemant Soren became visibly emotional while remembering Dishoṃ Guru Shibu Soren during the 47th foundation day celebrations of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) at Gandhi Maidan in Dumka. The celebrations saw a massive turnout of JMM supporters from remote areas of the Santhal Pargana division, arriving with traditional drums, gongs, bows, and arrows.
Remembering the Legacy of Shibu Soren
Addressing the gathering, Hemant Soren spoke of the long struggle led by Shibu Soren, which helped marginalized communities secure their rights and entitlements. “The unity of the people under Dishoṃ Guru’s leadership is the true strength of this state. It should never weaken. We take pride in the path he has shown us,” the CM said, his voice tinged with emotion.
He also highlighted the transformation of Jharkhand over the years, noting that while earlier generations suffered beatings and bullets under colonial rule, today the state’s youth are studying abroad and representing Jharkhand on global platforms.
Criticism of the Central Budget
CM Soren expressed disappointment over the central government’s recent budget, stating that although Jharkhand possesses 42% of India’s mineral wealth, the state was not even mentioned in the budget. He added, “While Jharkhand may have been economically and intellectually weaker, the people are well aware of the cunning strategies of feudal-minded parties. We will no longer allow injustice to prevail. To claim our rightful share, we are prepared to struggle on the ground as well as seek justice through legal avenues.”
Allegations of Misuse of Constitutional Institutions
He further accused the central government of misusing constitutional institutions and spoke about the plight of Adivasis working in Assam’s tea gardens for over 150 years. He stressed the need for active support to secure their rights if necessary.
Rally Under Basant Soren
Earlier, a rally led by MLA Basant Soren featured prominent leaders including MPs Nalin Soren and Vijay Hansda, Ministers Sudivya Sonu, Hafizul Hasan, Deepak Birua, and several MLAs. The leaders paid tribute to Shibu Soren, urging Adivasi and indigenous communities to remain united to uphold his ideals and vision.
