Cloudy Delhi-NCR Today, Yellow Alert for Rain Tomorrow; Light Showers Expected Over the Weekend

New Delhi: Delhi and the NCR region will remain under cloudy skies today, with residents feeling the chill from persistent cold winds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rain on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, with light showers expected over the weekend. The wet spell is likely to continue until February 2, after which clear skies are expected from February 3. Strong winds will accompany the rainfall, though precipitation is expected to be light.

Current Weather Conditions
On Thursday, the capital saw the sun emerge briefly around 1 PM, providing some relief after a cold morning dominated by dense clouds. The maximum temperature reached 17.9°C, which is 4.2°C below normal, while the minimum temperature was 11°C, 2.6°C above normal. Humidity levels ranged between 83 and 100 percent. Palam recorded a maximum of 15.3°C, while Aya Nagar recorded 16.2°C.

Today’s Forecast (January 30)
Cloudy skies will persist throughout Friday, with light to moderate fog in the morning. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 19°C, while the minimum may drop to 10°C.

Weekend Outlook (January 31 – February 1)
Partial cloud cover is expected on Saturday and Sunday, turning dense during the afternoon. Morning fog is likely in some areas. Nighttime will bring rain accompanied by strong winds, with gusts reaching 30–40 km/h. Maximum temperatures will range from 17°C to 21°C, and minimums between 6°C and 13°C.

February 2 Forecast & Pollution Update
Rainfall is expected to decrease on February 2, though clouds will persist, and light showers may occur in phases. Strong winds will continue. Air quality remains a concern; on Thursday, Delhi recorded an AQI of 226, with PM2.5 as the primary pollutant, indicating poor air quality.

Commuters and residents are advised to carry umbrellas, wear warm clothing, and stay updated on weather advisories over the weekend.
