Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh: The tragic suicide of Inspector Arun Kumar Rai at Kuthaund police station on December 5 has sparked widespread discussion on social media. The inspector reportedly shot himself in a closed room at the station. Seconds after the incident, lady constable Meenakshi Sharma was seen leaving the room. Following a complaint by the inspector’s wife, Sharma was charged with murder and sent to jail.
The Beginning of Their Association
Inspector Arun Rai, who previously served as in-charge at Konch police station, first came into contact with Meenakshi Sharma when she was posted there. Rai reportedly held the post for about seven months before being transferred to Kuthaund. Sources reveal that Rai was displeased with Sharma’s work style and even reported to higher authorities to have her transferred from Konch.
How the Relationship Developed
Following official action against her, Sharma allegedly adopted a more conciliatory approach and began visiting Inspector Rai’s residence. Over time, she reportedly became particularly close to him. Even after Rai’s transfer, their association did not end, and she continued to meet him regularly.
Investigation Reveals Further Links
Superintendent of Police Durgesh Kumar has formed a three-member SIT to probe the case. A forensic team is examining all angles, while Sharma’s call records and chat history have been scrutinized. The investigation suggests that Sharma may have had connections with other individuals besides Inspector Rai.
From High Life to Jail
Meenakshi Sharma, known for her lavish lifestyle, love for branded clothing, and flashy gadgets, now finds herself behind bars. During her five-hour police interrogation, she claimed she arrived at the room after the shot had been fired, amid reports of a heated argument between her and Inspector Rai prior to the incident.
The case continues to develop as authorities investigate the full circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Inspector Arun Rai.
