Class 8 Student Jumps from Third Floor After Principal’s Scolding; Shocking CCTV Footage Sparks Massive Protest in Ratlam

Ratlam, 29 November 2025: A Class 8 student at Bodhi International School, Ratlam, jumped from the third floor of the school building shortly after being allegedly threatened with suspension for bringing a mobile phone and recording reels on campus. The 14-year-old tribal student, a national-level skater, suffered severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad.

The incident has triggered widespread anger, leading to intense protests and a complete standoff between the school administration and members of the tribal community.

Protest Erupts; School Surrounded by Angry Relatives and Tribal Organisations

On Saturday, the situation escalated dramatically when the student’s family, grandmother, and tribal student organisations surrounded the school premises. Accusing the administration of mental harassment and negligence, they began an indefinite sit-in at the main entrance, demanding strict action against the school.

The primary demands include:

  • Immediate cancellation of the school’s recognition
  • Registration of an FIR against the principal for negligence and intimidation

Large police deployment and administrative officers have been stationed at the site to prevent unrest, but demonstrators insist the district education officer must personally visit the spot.

What Led to the Incident?

The event took place on 28 November. According to the family, the school administration reprimanded the boy and summoned his father over a mobile phone violation. Before the father could reach him, the principal allegedly threatened the student with suspension. Distressed, the boy climbed the third-floor balcony and jumped while his father waited downstairs to meet the principal.

Due to his critical condition, the student was rushed from Ratlam to Ahmedabad for specialised treatment.

CCTV Footage Intensifies Anger

Tensions escalated further after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced. In the video, the student can be seen repeatedly apologising—reportedly saying “sorry” nearly 50 times—while being scolded.

Tribal organisations claim the footage clearly shows the boy was mentally traumatised, pushing him toward the drastic decision. The video’s release has caused massive outrage within the tribal community.

District Panchayat Vice-President Leads the Agitation

District Panchayat Vice-President Keshuram Ninama is leading the sit-in protest along with the student’s elderly grandmother, relatives, and numerous tribal community members. Ninama declared that the protest will not end until the district education officer arrives and commits to cancelling the school’s recognition and initiating strict action against the principal.

Administration Struggles to Defuse Tension

Tehsildar Rishabh Thakur and Industrial Area Police Station in-charge Satyendra Raghuvanshi are present at the site with a heavy police force. They continue to negotiate with protesters, urging them to maintain peace, but the demonstrators remain adamant.

Atmosphere Outside School Remains Tense

The student’s relatives and tribal leaders allege that gross negligence by the school management directly led to the child’s life-threatening step. With protesters refusing to disperse and demanding accountability, the area remains tense as authorities attempt to restore calm.
