Class 12 Student Driving Swift Car in Lucknow Hit-and-Run; Girlfriend Was Also Present

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: A shocking hit-and-run incident was reported from the Banthra area of Lucknow on Thursday evening, where a speeding Maruti Swift car rammed into an auto-rickshaw and several pedestrians, resulting in the death of a six-year-old child and injuries to five others. The accident took place around 6 PM near the Hanuman Temple on Kanpur Road.

According to preliminary information, the Swift car was being driven by a Class 12 student who was returning from his school farewell function. The student was reportedly accompanied by his girlfriend, who was also a minor.

Accused Flees After Dropping Girlfriend Elsewhere
Sources revealed that after the accident, the student allegedly dropped his girlfriend at another location and fled from the scene. Both teenagers are said to be students of Avadh College.

Police Reach Girlfriend, Recover Car
Police managed to trace the girlfriend and questioned her regarding the incident. Based on her statement, officers were able to identify and recover the Maruti Swift car involved in the crash. However, the accused student remains absconding, and police teams are conducting raids to arrest him.

Victims Identified
The injured have been identified as:

  • Armaan (12)
  • Avadh Bihari (42)
  • Sadhna Verma (35)
  • Meena Devi (60)
  • Dikshit Patel (6)

All victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Tragically, six-year-old Dikshit Patel succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Car Hit Auto First, Then Pedestrians
Police officials stated that the car first collided with an auto-rickshaw and then went out of control, hitting pedestrians walking along the roadside. The incident has sparked public outrage, raising serious concerns about minors driving vehicles and reckless speeding on busy roads.
