Circular Skywalk Construction Begins in Noida Sector-62, to Ease Pedestrian Traffic

Noida: Following the example of Gurgaon, Noida is set to get its own circular skywalk in Sector-62. The foundation stone for the project was laid on Wednesday, with completion targeted within 18 months. The project, estimated to cost ₹26.34 crore, aims to address traffic congestion and improve safety for pedestrians in the area. The event saw prominent attendees including MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma and MLA Pankaj Singh.

Sector-62, located at the busiest entry junction from NH-9 into Noida, has long posed challenges for pedestrians due to heavy traffic. The new skywalk is expected to provide a safe and convenient passage for thousands of commuters traveling to and from Noida, Ghaziabad, Vaishali, Indirapuram, and Delhi.

Design and Access Points
The 530-meter-long skywalk will feature a circular section of approximately 350 meters and a straight section of 180 meters. There will be four major entry and exit points, catering to commuters from Sector-62, Sector-63, and NH-9 directions, ensuring smooth pedestrian movement across the busy junction.

Traffic Challenges Amid Construction
While road widening initiatives are underway to reduce traffic jams, new issues have emerged. On Vishwakarma Road, the pillars for a foot overbridge (FOB) have been installed in the middle of the road, causing difficulties for vehicles. During peak hours, long queues form, particularly endangering two-wheeler riders.

According to SP Singh, In-Charge of Noida Traffic Cell, the Noida Authority is coordinating with relevant departments to find solutions and mitigate disruptions during the construction period.

With its completion, the circular skywalk in Sector-62 is expected to significantly improve pedestrian safety and ease congestion at one of Noida’s busiest intersections.
