Churma Made Using JCB and Thresher Steals the Spotlight at Rajasthan’s Lakkhi Fair

Kotputli: An extraordinary spectacle is taking place at the renowned Chhapala Bhairuji Temple in Kotputli, Rajasthan, as the annual Lakkhi Fair draws devotees from across the country. This year, a massive 750 quintals of churma—the temple’s special holy offering—is being prepared using a unique blend of traditional faith and modern machinery. Remarkably, JCB and thresher machines are being employed to prepare the colossal prasadi.

The fair, celebrated in the scenic Aravalli hills, has become a social media sensation, attracting devotees not only from Rajasthan but also from Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

Month-long preparations for the grand offering
According to the temple committee and local villagers, preparations for the grand prasadi and the fair have been ongoing day and night for nearly a month. Given the enormous quantity of churma, hand preparation alone would be insufficient, prompting the use of three JCB machines. These machines assist in mixing the ingredients and transporting the heavy churma efficiently from one place to another.

The fascinating process of making the grand prasadi
The preparation begins with 150 quintals of flour, which is shaped into dough balls and baked on a 100-meter-long jagra (traditional pit oven) fueled with 450 quintals of cow dung cakes. Once baked, the dough balls are crushed into churma using a thresher, gradually forming a massive mound. Finally, desi ghee, sugar, mawa, and dry fruits are added and mixed evenly with the help of JCB machines, ensuring the prasadi is perfectly prepared for the devotees.

Devotees from across states gather for blessings
The Lakkhi Fair has become a vibrant example of faith, tradition, and technology coming together. Along with the holy churma, devotees flock to seek blessings from Baba Bhairuji, making it a grand spiritual and cultural event attracting lakhs of devotees from Rajasthan and beyond.
