
Sursurpur, Chhattisgarh: In a bizarre turn of events in Chandrapur, Surajpur district, a family was left in shock when their son, Purushottam, whom they had declared dead and cremated, returned home alive on the third day. The incident has also left the police puzzled, as they now investigate whose body was actually cremated.
Case Details
Purushottam, a resident of Chandrapur, had been missing for three days. Despite extensive searches by his family, he could not be found. On 1st November, police recovered a decomposed body from a well in the village. The family identified the body based on clothing, and after post-mortem formalities, the police handed it over to them. The cremation took place the same day.
Unexpected Return
On the third day after the cremation, while the family was performing the last rites at the cremation ground, Purushottam returned alive to the village, leaving everyone astounded. He revealed that he had been staying with relatives in Ambikapur and had not informed his family about his whereabouts. Purushottam’s mother, Maanakumari, expressed her relief and joy, saying, “I did not know that the body being cremated was not my son. I am thankful that he is alive.”
Police Investigate the Mystery
The police are now trying to determine the identity of the body that was cremated. Thana in-charge Vimlesh Dubey said, “Purushottam was missing, and the family identified the body based on clothing. We are investigating to confirm whose body it actually was. Multiple sources are being explored to trace the identity of the deceased found in the well.”
This extraordinary incident has left both the family and authorities bewildered, raising questions about the mishap in identification and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deceased found in the well.
