Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh: On a one-day visit to Chhattisgarh, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan participated in the state’s Silver Jubilee celebrations on Wednesday, attending events in Raipur and Rajnandgaon. At the State School grounds in Rajnandgaon, he officially released the 21st installment of the Mahtari Vandan scheme, transferring funds directly to the accounts of beneficiary women. During the event, the Vice President also honored the “Lakhpati Didi” awardees. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh were present at the ceremony.

A Tribute to Women’s Empowerment
Addressing the gathering, Vice President Radhakrishnan lauded the Lakhpati Didi initiative, calling it a reflection of Indian women’s strength and determination. He stated that the program highlights the resolve of women turning challenges into opportunities. “The term ‘Lakhpati Didi’ is not just a measure of income—it represents freedom, respect, and self-confidence,” he added.

He further emphasized that thousands of women-led self-help groups across India are demonstrating how hard work, discipline, and unity can transform lives. The Vice President highlighted that their achievements showcase the transformative power of rural India and applauded the government’s efforts, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of creating three crore Lakhpati Didi is a remarkable step toward women-led development, with Chhattisgarh providing a clear example of this movement in action.

Commending Development in Chhattisgarh
Vice President Radhakrishnan also praised the progress made in Chhattisgarh over the past 25 years, describing it as a journey that has positioned the state among India’s most promising and progressive regions. He noted that the state is now successfully eliminating Naxalism, creating a safer environment for development.

Appeal to Naxals
Addressing the closing ceremony of Chhattisgarh’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, he said, “We take pride in moving toward the end of Naxalism, which for long hindered the state’s development. Peace is essential—without peace, development is impossible.” He appealed to Maoists to lay down arms and return to the mainstream, urging them to surrender before the administration.
