Chhattisgarh to Receive ₹7,470 Crore for Railway Development; CM Sai Says Fund 24 Times Higher than UPA Era

Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai has announced that the state will receive ₹7,470 crore in the Union Budget 2026-27 for the development of railway infrastructure, marking a historic increase compared to previous allocations. Speaking to the media on Monday, CM Sai noted that this amount is nearly 24 times higher than the average allocation of ₹311 crore during the 2009-2014 UPA government.

CM Expresses Gratitude to PM Modi

CM Sai expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, attributing the significant improvement in the state’s railway sector to the consistent efforts of the “dual-engine government” at both the Centre and the state. He highlighted that projects worth ₹51,080 crore are currently underway in Chhattisgarh, including the construction of new railway lines, station redevelopment, and safety upgrades.

CM Sai specifically mentioned the Roghat-Jagdalpur railway project connecting the remote Bastar region as a “precious gift” from the central government to tribal communities, opening new avenues for regional development.

Budget Highlights and Broader Impact

The Chief Minister reiterated that the budget will provide direct benefits to states like Chhattisgarh and called it a historic document for India’s golden and developed future. Presented at the Karyavah Bhavan, this is the first budget to prioritize three major objectives: accelerating economic growth and employment, fulfilling public expectations, and ensuring “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Collective Effort, Inclusive Growth).

In addition, the budget announced seven high-speed rail corridors, 20 new waterways, major textile parks, and mineral corridors across four states. A ₹40,000 crore investment under the Semiconductor Mission is expected to boost industrial growth and employment, further strengthening the nation’s economy.
