Raipur: In a major push toward administrative reform and efficient governance, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, approved several key policy decisions aimed at restructuring government departments, strengthening procurement systems, and accelerating housing and sports infrastructure development. The meeting, held on Wednesday at Mahanadi Bhavan, emphasized the state’s commitment to the vision of ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.’
Key Cabinet Decisions Focused on Governance, Farmers, and Housing
The Cabinet introduced reforms across multiple sectors, including departmental restructuring, procurement of pulses and oilseeds at support prices, enhancement of the paddy procurement financial guarantee, and major relaxations in the sale of unsold flats under government housing schemes.
Support Price Procurement of Pulses & Oilseeds to Continue
The Cabinet approved the continuation of procurement under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for both Kharif and Rabi seasons, as part of the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan.
- Kharif crops covered: Arhar, Moong, Urad, Groundnut, Soybean
- Rabi crops covered: Gram, Mustard, Lentil
Officials stated that procurement at MSP in state mandis ensures healthy market competition, enabling farmers to receive better prices for their produce.
Major Administrative Reform: Merger of Departments
To improve administrative efficiency, the government approved significant amendments to the Chhattisgarh Government (Allocation of Business) Rules:
- The Public Enterprises Department will now be merged with the Commerce and Industries Department.
- The Twenty-Point Programme Implementation Department will be merged with the Planning, Economics & Statistics Department.
The government said the move is intended to streamline operations, reduce duplication, and operationalize the vision of efficient governance.
Paddy Procurement Guarantee Increased to ₹26,200 Crore
To ensure smooth paddy procurement for the upcoming Kharif marketing year 2025–26, the Cabinet decided:
- To renew the existing government guarantee of ₹15,000 crore for MSP-based paddy procurement.
- To provide an additional government guarantee of ₹11,200 crore to the Marketing Federation.
This raises the total financial guarantee to ₹26,200 crore, strengthening the state’s commitment to timely and seamless procurement.
Big Relief in Housing Scheme Rules
The Cabinet approved significant relaxations in the sale of unsold flats under:
- Deendayal Awas Yojana
- Atal Awas Yojana
- Atal Vihar Yojana
- Nava Raipur Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana
Key Relaxations
- Unsold EWS and LIG flats, after three rounds of advertisement, may now be sold to beneficiaries from any income category—though only eligible income groups will receive government subsidies.
- Bulk Purchase Allowed: If an individual or a government/semi-government/private organization offers to buy multiple units after three advertisements, they may be sold multiple flats—but subsidy will not apply.
- The government will run a widespread awareness campaign to ensure maximum beneficiary participation.
Cricket Boost: State Stadium Leased for Long-Term Development
The Cabinet approved the long-term leasing of the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Naya Raipur to the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association.
This policy move will:
- Provide advanced training and infrastructure to budding cricketers
- Enable the hosting of more national and international-level matches
- Promote sports excellence across the state
