Chhattisgarh Cabinet Approves Formation of Anti-Drug Task Force in 10 Districts

Raipur, Chhattisgarh: In a major step against drug abuse, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet on Wednesday approved the creation of a dedicated Anti-Drug Task Force (ADTF) in 10 districts across the state. The cabinet also sanctioned 100 new posts for the task force.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. The move includes the formation of district-level Anti-Drug Task Forces in Raipur, Mahasamund, Bilaspur, Durg, Bastar, Sarguja, Kabirdham, Jashpur, Rajnandgaon, and Korba.

Strengthening Special Operations Group (SOG)
In addition, the cabinet approved the creation of 44 new posts for the Special Operations Group (SOG) under the state police headquarters’ Special Branch. Funded under the 2025-26 budget, the SOG will be a highly trained unit responsible for immediate response to major incidents, counter-terror operations, and neutralizing serious threats.

Role of the Anti-Drug Task Force
The primary responsibility of the ADTF will be to completely curb illegal drug trafficking within the state. The team will act against drug suppliers and dealers, dismantle drug networks, and conduct raids. Additionally, the task force will ensure legal action against arrested offenders and raise public awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. Officials said this initiative will significantly strengthen monitoring and enforcement against narcotics in the state.

Other Cabinet Decisions
The cabinet also approved the establishment of flight training organizations (FTOs) at various airports and airstrips in the state, with operational guidelines now sanctioned. Officials said the initiative aims to provide pilot training facilities through private participation, addressing the growing demand for aviation training.

Further, the cabinet approved the Chhattisgarh Innovation and Startup Promotion Policy 2025-26, aimed at developing the state as a leading innovation hub and improving its ranking in national startup indices, thereby attracting greater investment.
