Chennai Triple Murder Shocks Nation: Bihar Family Brutally Killed After Resisting Sexual Assault Attempt

Patna/Chennai:
A horrifying triple murder in Chennai has sent shockwaves across the country, exposing a level of brutality that has left even investigators shaken. A migrant family from Bihar’s Sheikhpura district — a man, his wife, and their infant son — was brutally murdered after the husband resisted an alleged attempt to sexually assault his wife during a liquor party.

The victims have been identified as Gaurav यादव, his wife Moni Kumari, and their 18-month-old son Guddu. Police have arrested seven accused, including the prime suspect Upendra Yadav, all of whom are reportedly migrant labourers from Bihar and known to the victim.

Search for Livelihood Turned into a Nightmare

Gaurav Yadav had moved to Chennai with his family in search of employment and a better future. According to police investigations, on the night of January 25, Gaurav attended a drinking session with acquaintances, including Upendra Yadav.

During the gathering, the intoxicated accused allegedly attempted to sexually assault Moni Kumari. When Gaurav intervened to protect his wife, the attackers brutally assaulted him with an iron rod, killing him on the spot.

Fearing exposure, the accused then murdered Moni Kumari and the couple’s minor son.

Bodies Chopped and Dumped to Destroy Evidence

The brutality did not end with the murders. In an attempt to erase evidence, the accused allegedly dismembered the bodies of Gaurav and his child and disposed of them at different locations across the city.

On January 26 (Republic Day), Gaurav’s body was recovered from a sack found in the Adyar area, triggering a major police investigation.

During interrogation, prime accused Upendra Yadav reportedly confessed to the crime. Acting on his disclosure, police recovered the child’s body from the Buckingham Canal. The search for Moni Kumari’s body is still underway.

According to the accused, her body was dumped in a large garbage container near the Indira Nagar MRTS station, where police teams continue intensive search operations.

Betrayal by Trusted Acquaintance

Adding to the tragedy is the fact that the main accused was someone the family trusted. Gaurav’s father, Sulendra Yadav, stated that Upendra had persuaded his son to come to Chennai by promising employment.

Gaurav had been married for three years and had left his village solely to support his family.

“The person we trusted with our son’s future became the reason for his death,” the grieving father said.

Village in Mourning

When the bodies of Gaurav and his son reached Pathlafar village in Sheikhpura district, scenes of uncontrollable grief unfolded. The entire village was plunged into mourning as family members and residents struggled to comprehend the scale of the tragedy.

Police Action Ongoing

Chennai Police have confirmed the arrest of all seven accused and stated that the investigation is continuing. Search operations remain active near the Indira Nagar MRTS area to recover Moni Kumari’s body.

Officials said the case will be fast-tracked and the accused will be charged under multiple sections related to murder, sexual assault attempt, destruction of evidence, and criminal conspiracy.

A Crime That Shames Humanity

The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of migrant workers and their families in metropolitan cities. What began as a journey for survival and dignity ended in an act of unimaginable cruelty — a crime that has shaken the conscience of the nation.
