Begusarai:
The first day of the Bihar Intermediate Examination 2026 witnessed chaos at an examination centre in Begusarai, where several late-arriving students created a ruckus after being denied entry. The situation escalated when students attempted to forcibly enter the centre by climbing over and damaging the main gate, prompting police to resort to a baton charge to control the crowd.
According to officials, the first shift of the examination was scheduled to begin at 9:30 am, with strict instructions that candidates must enter the examination centre before 9:00 am. Students who arrived within the stipulated time were allowed entry without issue. However, around a dozen candidates who reached the centre after the deadline found the gates locked.
Angered by the denial of entry, the latecomers began protesting and attempted to jump over the gate. When this failed, they allegedly tried to break the gate, creating a law-and-order situation at the centre. In response, police personnel deployed at the spot used batons to disperse the crowd and restore order. Amid the commotion, a few students reportedly managed to enter the examination centre.
The district administration has made extensive security arrangements for the smooth and malpractice-free conduct of the examinations. In Begusarai district alone, 39 examination centres have been set up, where approximately 38,000 candidates are appearing for the Intermediate examinations. Magistrates and adequate police forces have been deployed at all centres to ensure discipline and adherence to guidelines.
Authorities reiterated that entry into examination centres after the designated time is strictly prohibited. As part of enhanced security measures, candidates are barred from carrying electronic devices inside the centres. Additionally, wearing shoes inside the examination hall has been prohibited. On the first day, several students who arrived wearing shoes were asked to remove them outside the centre before being allowed to appear for the examination.
The administration has appealed to students and guardians to strictly follow examination guidelines to avoid inconvenience and ensure the peaceful conduct of the exams.
