CCTV Captures Deadly Shooting of AAP Leader Lucky Oberoi Outside Gurudwara in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: A chilling CCTV footage has emerged showing the deadly shooting of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Lucky Oberoi outside a Gurudwara in the upscale Model Town area of Jalandhar on Friday morning. The attack took place around 7:35 a.m. on a road frequented by vehicles and devotees heading to the Gurudwara.

What the CCTV Footage Shows
The video reveals that as Oberoi exited the Gurudwara and moved toward his Mahindra Thar, a man wearing a black hoodie calmly approached the SUV. The assailant opened fire at close range while Oberoi was still inside the vehicle. The footage suggests that the shooter waited for Oberoi to get into the car to prevent any chance of escape.

Attack Over in Just 10 Seconds
After firing several bullets, the attacker ran toward a scooter arriving from a nearby lane and fled the scene. According to police, at least two assailants on the scooter opened fire. Oberoi was critically injured and rushed to a private hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The entire attack lasted barely 10 seconds.

Political and Personal Background
Oberoi’s wife, Simarjot Kaur, had contested the municipal corporation elections last year on an AAP ticket. Oberoi was considered close to Rajvinder Thiyara, the party in-charge of the Jalandhar Cantt Assembly constituency. He was also involved in financing and the property business and resided in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Jalandhar.

Police Investigation
Authorities said the attackers fired multiple rounds before fleeing. Police are examining CCTV footage to identify the shooters and determine the motive behind the killing. Investigations are exploring multiple angles, including political rivalry, personal enmity, and other possible reasons. Officials claim that arrests are expected soon.
