Ara, Bihar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly secured a major lead in the high-profile case of missing teacher Kamlesh Rai from Bhojpur, who has been untraceable for over two and a half years. The breakthrough comes from WhatsApp chats recovered between Rupesh Chaubey, allegedly the second boyfriend of woman sub-inspector Anjali, and Kamlesh Rai.
WhatsApp Chats Reveal Tensions
In the chats, Rupesh details his strained relationship with Anjali, stating that she abused him frequently and repeatedly tried to contact him despite being blocked on social media. He told Kamlesh that he would not tolerate her behavior and expressed frustration over her repeated insults, saying, “She abuses me every day… I will not listen to her anymore. She has humiliated me to the point I feel ashamed in my own eyes.”
Rupesh also wrote threatening messages, claiming that he would confront Anjali if she continued to disrespect him. He described being emotionally hurt and stressed that despite her attempts to manipulate him, he had no intention of yielding.
Background of the Missing Teacher
Kamlesh Rai, a 32-year-old tuition teacher from Kohlrampur village, Barhara block, went missing on 13 July 2023. On 19 January 2026, CBI arrested Rupesh Chaubey, followed by SI Anjali on 28 January 2026, who was posted at Lakhisarai Nagar police station. Investigations suggest that Anjali had gotten engaged in December 2025, with her wedding scheduled in 2026. However, she is currently in custody, and details of her fiancé have not been disclosed.
CBI Investigation Underway
Authorities suspect that Kamlesh Rai may have been abducted and possibly murdered, though no concrete evidence has yet emerged linking Anjali or Rupesh to his death. The CBI is meticulously examining all facts and evidence, including digital communications, to unravel the complex web of relationships and potential motives.
The case has attracted wide attention due to the involvement of a female police officer, her love triangle, and the long-standing disappearance of a respected teacher, making it one of the most closely watched investigations in the region.
