Caretaker Turns ‘Executioner’: Court Sentences Maid to 3 Years for Abusing 2-Year-Old Boy

Jabalpur: In a shocking case of child abuse, a court has sentenced a domestic maid to three years in prison for cruel treatment of a two-year-old boy entrusted to her care. The horrifying incidents were captured on the household CCTV cameras.

The child, identified as Manvik, was the son of Mukesh Vishwakarma, a junior engineer, and Sonali Sharma, a district court employee. The parents hired the maid, Rajni Chaudhary Ahirwar, to look after their son while they were away at work, paying her a monthly salary of ₹5,000.

Child Became Unwell
Within a few months, Manvik stopped laughing, playing, and eating, frequently falling ill. Medical examinations revealed an infection in his stomach. Suspicious of mistreatment, the parents installed CCTV cameras at home. The footage revealed Rajni pulling the child’s hair, punching him in the stomach, strangling him, hitting him with a pointed comb, and deliberately withholding food.

Maid Consumed Child’s Food
The prosecution told the court that the maid often ate the child’s meals—including fruits, milk, and porridge—giving him only small portions, while she consumed gutkha and tobacco herself. When confronted with the footage, the accused remained silent. The parents had lodged a formal complaint at Madan Mahal Police Station on 13 June 2022, submitting CCTV recordings, pen drives, DVDs, and medical records as evidence.

Court Verdict
The court found the maid guilty under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code (for two counts) and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. She was sentenced to three years in prison without any leniency.
