New Delhi: With Republic Day just days away, security arrangements in the national capital have been intensified. Delhi Police, along with other security agencies, have placed the city on high alert to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the January 26 celebrations.
As part of the enhanced security measures, barricading has been set up on all major entry points and arterial roads leading into Delhi. Vehicles are being thoroughly checked, and police personnel are keeping a close watch on all movement. Any vehicle or individual found suspicious is being stopped and searched. Similar scenes of vehicle checking were witnessed in areas such as Geeta Colony, where police teams were seen conducting inspections.
Snipers Deployed on Rooftops
To further strengthen security, the number of advanced surveillance cameras equipped with Israeli software, including Facial Recognition System (FRS) and Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras, has been increased across the capital. In the Lutyens’ Zone, snipers will be deployed on high-rise buildings, while PTZ cameras have also been installed on rooftops to enable long-range monitoring.
Security has been tightened at key locations such as major railway stations, metro stations, bus terminals, crowded markets and the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Posters of most-wanted terrorists have been displayed at prominent public places to aid identification.
Police to Use AI-Powered Smart Glasses
On Republic Day, police personnel deployed on the ground will be equipped with AI-powered smart glasses. These glasses, connected to mobile phones, will help officers identify suspects even in crowded areas. As soon as a person comes into the camera’s view, the system will match facial data with the police database. A green signal will appear if no criminal record is found, while a red alert will be triggered in case of a match with criminal records.
Authorities have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain law and order and to ensure the safety of citizens during the Republic Day celebrations.
