Campaigning Ends in 12 Delhi Wards Ahead of MCD By-Elections; Voting Tomorrow

New Delhi: Campaigning for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections in 12 wards came to a halt on Friday evening, ahead of polling scheduled for 30 November. The Election Commission has officially enforced the silence period, during which no political campaigning is permitted.

Final Day of Campaigning
On the last day of campaigning, all political parties held public meetings and roadshows across the 12 wards to reach out to voters. However, following the close of campaign activities on Friday evening, the silence period came into effect and will continue until the conclusion of polling.

Silence Period and Dry Day Rules
The State Election Commission has barred the publication of opinion polls until the evening of polling day. Additionally, a dry day has been enforced in Delhi until 5:30 PM on 30 November. Any political party found violating these rules will face action under the Model Code of Conduct. Teams from the Election Commission have been deployed across all wards to ensure compliance.

Voting Schedule
Voting will take place tomorrow, 30 November, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Polling Infrastructure
A total of 580 polling booths have been set up across 143 polling stations in the 12 wards. Each ward will have one model polling booth and a designated “pink booth.” All polling stations will be webcast live to ensure transparency and smooth conduct of the by-elections.
