Pathankot, Punjab: In an extraordinary act of selflessness, a beggar in Punjab has captured hearts across the region. Raju, a homeless man who survives by seeking alms, has used his meager earnings to help the less fortunate during the bitter winter chill.
Despite having no permanent shelter or personal comforts, Raju considers serving those in need his life’s mission. The money he collects from begging is not for himself but goes entirely toward aiding the poor and destitute. Recently, he distributed warm blankets to 500 people in Pathankot, purchasing them with the very money he had collected from alms.
A Heart That Serves
Alongside distributing blankets, Raju also set up a tea service for the needy, offering a small relief from the freezing nights. His dedication has made many reflect on the true meaning of compassion, especially in a time when even basic acts of kindness are often overlooked.
Raju, who sometimes goes days without a proper meal, says that his motivation comes from God, and he sees himself merely as a medium to help others. He urges citizens to come forward and support the needy, emphasizing that society becomes strong when people care for one another.
A Recognition from the Highest Office
Raju’s selfless service has been recognized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. Even the shelter provided to him by the government was transformed into a place of refuge for other homeless people. Today, Raju stands as a symbol of true humanity, demonstrating that genuine compassion is measured not by wealth or status but by the willingness to serve others.
