Bundled with Blackmail, Banda Businessman Ends Life; Police File Case Against Alleged Mistress

BANDA, Uttar Pradesh: A businessman in Banda allegedly took his own life after being harassed by his mistress for money. Bhupendra Kumar Soni, who ran an auto parts business in Kalu Kuan’s Tulsi Vihar colony, reportedly shot himself at home on the night of December 4, 2025. Witnesses say that before pulling the trigger, he told the woman: “Now take the money, I am fed up with you.”

Allegations of Blackmail and Extortion
According to Bhupendra’s wife, Poonam, her husband had been in a long-term relationship with a woman named Chandni, who allegedly created a compromising video of him and extorted between ₹20 to ₹25 lakh. On the night of the incident, Bhupendra was reportedly on a phone call with Chandni when he shot himself.

Initial Complaints Ignored
Poonam claimed that she had previously lodged multiple written complaints at Kalu Kuan Police Station and Kotwali Nagar, but no action was taken. Frustrated, she approached DIG Chitrakoot Dham division seeking justice.

Police Action Initiated
Following the DIG’s directive, Kotwali Nagar police have now registered a case against Chandni and her family and are investigating the matter. Kotwali in-charge Balram Singh stated that the police are currently examining evidence and will take further action based on the findings.

The tragic incident has raised concerns over harassment and extortion in personal relationships, highlighting the need for timely law enforcement intervention.
